Manufacturing Supervisor

Location: Montgomery, PA

JOB SUMMARY:

The Production Supervisor manages employees in a manufacturing environment. Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, recommends improvements to production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Responsible for ensuring an excellent quality product is produced in a safe and timely manner.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 

  •  Ensures a safe work environment for all employees. Interprets company safety regulations, communicates to employees, and ensures compliance. Performs accident investigations. Follows up on any reported safety issues.

 

  •  Ensures effective employee relations. Communicates and ensures compliance to company policies and procedures. Provides employee coaching and development. Assists with making employment decisions. Resolves employee issues through problem resolution.

 

  •  Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and moral to achieve positive results in all areas. Works to continuously improve in all areas.

 

  •  Manages work flow and production needs to ensure proper utilization of resources. Communicates with supervisors and managers in other departments to ensure total plant productivity goals are met in the most efficient manner.

 

  •  Manages departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager. Note areas where drop or increased production occur and provide explanation.

 

  •  Establish accountability and goals used for performance evaluation. Effectively communicates daily production needs to employees. Address areas that employees could focus on to achieve or exceed set work goals. Follow up with individuals not meeting goals to determine why goals are not being met. Determine improvement measures. Re-evaluate.

 

  •  Assure that machinery, equipment and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.

 

  •  Tracks absenteeism and time keeping. 

 

  •  Other duties may be assigned.

 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Preferred two-year degree or 4-6 years equivalent experience.

 

  • Four to six years of manufacturing experience with at least two-years of supervisory/coordinating experience. Experience with specialty vehicle or trailer manufacturing is a plus.

 

  • Must have solid computer skills to include Microsoft Suite, AS400, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with all levels of employees.

 

  • Prior use of MRP system a plus.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience preferred.      

 

  • Ability to effectively to lead employees and delegate work assignments.

 

  • Ability to conceptualize work flow and make necessary adjustments mid-stream.

 

  • Understand and promote the concept and importance of continuous improvement and cost reduction.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

  • Physical fitness to perform all job functions of the designated work area, including any and all maintenance and heavy lifting assignments. This includes standing, small tool use, full arm and leg range of motion, bending, lifting, walking, crouching, and effectively communicating.

 

·         Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
